BSL Signs for Early Years

This video library contains all of the signs from our family signing sessions including many more - over 300 everyday signs! This resource was created to help members practise and learn new signs and can be used as a reference tool in between signing sessions. For a list of all the videos included, please visit the Index page.

The signs in our family signing sessions are from British Sign Language (BSL) vocabulary. It is important to mention that BSL is a complex language that does not follow English grammar and does not use spoken words. BSL is a recognised language and is one of the UK's indigenous languages; others include English, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic and Cornish. Where signing follows English word order, this is known as Sign Supported English (SSE).

If you would like to learn British Sign Language, we highly recommend learning with a qualified BSL teacher. Please visit our BSL Centre page for more information about our
BSL Courses or feel welcome to get in touch with us if you have a specific enquiry. You can also search for your local approved training centres and BSL teachers via the two awarding body websites, iBSL and Signature. If you'd like help finding appropriate training for your needs, please feel welcome to contact us as we're more than happy to help.
